Irritable bowel syndrome is a common condition characterized by abdominal pain with constipation and/or diarrhoea continuing for years without any other general deterioration in health. Historically no cause can be found even when clinically investigated the bowel shows normal functionality.

Possible Causes: 

Possible causes poor diet, food intolerances, food allergies, too much caffeine and alcohol, lack of digestive enzymes, an underlying parasitic infection, overgrowth of yeast following the use of antibiotics or the use of the contraceptive pill. Too little good gut bacteria and too many unhealthy bacteria.
